Fuel switching replaces carbon-intensive fossil fuels with cleaner alternatives to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption. Given that around 80% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions are a direct or indirect result of fossil fuels, switching to clean, renewable power is essential in mitigating climate change. Many industries, particularly the transportation and building sectors, are switching to alternative fuels such as electrification, hydrogen, methane and formic acid fuel cells, biofuels, green ammonia, and geothermal energy.
