Molecular electronics chips use very small molecules, as opposed to traditional materials like silicon. Roswell Biotechnologies, a molecular electronics company, announced plans to develop the first molecular electronics chip. Its tech is built around using DNA to create nanoscale electronic circuits. The goal: to digitize biology. Digitizing a biological specimen means gathering data from a physical specimen, by translating molecular interactions into electrical measurements, so that it can be widely shared and replicated. It’s expected this will greatly aid drug development, diagnostics, telemedicine, and connected health.
