Stakeholder Capitalism implies a way of doing business in which generating shared value for all stakeholders is the guiding principle. It is an alternative to shareholder or state capitalism in which profit dominates above all else and often at the expense of people and the planet. In contrast, businesses can influence real and meaningful change by giving consumers, employees, partners, local communities, and the environment a figurative—or, in some cases, literal—seat at the table.
